Hey, there! I’m Wendy, and I’m so glad you’re here. I want to help you to get to know me better by telling you a little something about me, my blog, and my family.
My heart’s desire is to encourage women from all walks of life in their God-given roles as wives, moms, and home educators. I am in the trenches with you. If I can fail regularly and wake up tomorrow to try again, then you can, too. God is refining me through the process of homeschooling, and He will do the same for you. Whatever it is that God has called you to do, He will equip you for the journey. No matter the adversity you may encounter, His plans are good.
HE is good. Always.
I met my husband while still in high school, and we have been together ever since. You may think that means it’s all been happily ever after, but it hasn’t. Though we have enjoyed many happily-ever-after days, we have endured our share of rough patches, too. My hope is to use our experiences to speak hope into those of you who may be going through a rough patch yourselves. My husband is a hard worker. He provides well for his family, loves his passel of children, and strives to be the best husband he can.
Even on our ‘off’ days, I know in my heart that he loves me. God is the One who gets us through. At days’ end, those ones when we are both exhausted and want to give up, we remember that Jesus is our ultimate hope and only healer. We simply lean harder on Him as He molds and shapes us into the people He wants us to be. We are excited about recently celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, and we look forward to serving God together for many more years to come!
I am mama to 5 beautiful blessings, ages 5 to 17. We are currently navigating the waters of homeschooling high school, middle school, elementary school, and preschool.
Our list of learning tools includes but is not limited to:
- an eclectic mix of textbooks and unit studies
- historical fiction and other fun fiction
- board, computer, and video games
- blogs (for myself and two of my kiddos so far)
- dictionaries and thesaurus’ on hand at all times
- the great outdoors with sidewalk chalk, water play, gardening tools, a fort, cameras, art supplies, bubbles, bicycles, scooters, picnic tables, picnic supplies, a bug collector’s kit, jungle gym, light sabers, skate boards, swings, a basketball goal and volleyball net, plus an assortment of balls. (Gotta be sure to get that PE in!)
There are many things that I love about homeschooling, but one of my greatest joys is seeing the relationships that have developed between my children. We do experience rough days when no one gets along, but the bonds between oldest and youngest, youngest and middle, 2nd and 4th, etc., are tight and so interesting to observe!
I feel completely blessed to have been called to this homeschooling journey by God. It is my desire and mission to encourage other mamas that they can homeschool successfully, too!
