Purpose Living Wife came about because I felt I needed to make some changes to my blog. I needed to more clearly define its purpose, possibly choose a new name, maybe redesign it completely. I had already been pondering on what this may look like when I attended a blogging conference last fall. Upon leaving the conference I began praying about changes and Purpose Living Wife is what came out of that time of prayer.
Much of what I have already blogged about for the last year or two has been in regards to marriage, parenting, homeschooling, and faith-related topics. As I prayed about changes and began to feel prompted to go in this direction with changing the name of my blog and creating a new design, I realized that I needed to hone in on these areas in my own life. It is fine and good to write out my experiences, what I have learned and read about as it relates to marriage, parenting, homeschooling, and my faith. I love to encourage others in those areas because I have been in such need over the years for encouragement in those same areas myself.
However, I had lost my passion. My purpose was no longer clear in the life I was living nor in my blogging. As I sought God on what needed to take place specifically with the blog, He began to show me what needed to take place specifically in my own life.
Here is what I found and, ultimately, what I am hoping to encourage you with, too, as I continue to write at Purpose Living Wife.
- love God and grow to know Him more each day – growing spiritual fruit that will show evidence of His love in you
- love your husband – make it a daily action rather than a nice feeling – how can you help him today?
- love and train your children – be intentional about pouring into their lives spiritually, educationally, and physically as you meet their needs
- encourage your family at least as much as you encourage others
These are not easy tasks, nor was it easy to hear that I may not be doing these things well. It was and is quite humbling to realize that I am not finding success myself in the things I encourage others to do.
So, I am in a period of regrouping. I am praying that God will help me in practical ways each day as I endeavor to encourage my family through acts of service, prayer, education, help – and that He will bring to mind moment by moment what I need to hear, read, or do in order to grow more the spiritual fruit He calls me to continue to develop in my life.
As I learn and grow, it is my desire to share with you here what I am learning, how I have failed, and what is working, so that you may be encouraged as you homeschool, love your husbands, parent your children, and live out your lives as Christ-followers with passion and purpose.
I look forward to the journey, so I hope you will stick around and travel this road with me.
