Lately, I have been pulling out some books that we haven’t read in a while. Since my older 3 children are, well, older, they have moved on to books like Lord of the Rings, The Hobbitt, The Giver, The Hunger Games, and other great reads that are more appropriate for their ages.
However, my littlest girls are beginning to show interest in story books that are a bit longer, so I am enjoying the chance to revisit some of the old favorites from when their siblings were their age. I thought I would take this opportunity to share them with you, too. As you look towards the new year and think about how you would like to spend your days, be sure to include some fun read-aloud time with your children!
16 Favorite Children’s Books for the New Year
Books by Kevin Henkes
Books by Eric Carle
Books by Lois Lowry
Bible Story Books or Devotions
The above three books are some that we have owned since my first-born was, well, first born! Our children have enjoyed listening to me or their dad read stories out of these books for the last 17 years. I’m looking forward to spending several more years reading from them to my littlest girls, continuing the tradition of reading aloud and making memories together!
